Research Programme

Evidence-Based Excellence

Our research programme is dedicated to generating high-quality evidence that addresses critical gaps in healthcare quality and patient safety knowledge. We conduct rigorous studies that are contextually relevant and methodologically sound.

From large-scale surveys to implementation science studies, our research portfolio spans diverse methodologies and addresses pressing questions in healthcare quality improvement across Malawi and the wider region.

We are committed to ensuring our research findings reach those who can use them — from frontline healthcare workers to policymakers — through strategic dissemination and knowledge translation efforts.

Malawi People’s Voice Survey

Research Spotlight

People’s Voice Survey

Patient-centred research capturing the lived experiences of over 1,024 participants on healthcare access, patient trust, preventive services, and financial barriers across Malawi.

The global launch webinar drew 232 international participants — a testament to the survey’s reach and relevance well beyond national borders. Findings are now shaping healthcare policy discussions across the region.

Digital Innovation

DHIS2 QI Tracker

LCQM developed a bespoke Quality Improvement tracker within Malawi’s national DHIS2 platform — enabling 124 health facilities to report quality improvement data in real-time.

This digital infrastructure transforms scattered improvement efforts into a national learning system — making it possible to see what works, where, and for whom, at scale.
